What are the specific rules regarding children with special needs? What if a special needs child marries?
Any dependent with special needs age 26 or older who marries cannot be covered on a parent's insurance. What's the process to add my disabled child to healthcare coverage?

If your child is under age 26, he/she may be enrolled during the annual enrollment process. Once your child reaches age 26, coverage may continue as long as the child is incapacitated and meets the criteria to continue coverage as a disabled dependent unless coverage is otherwise terminated in accordance with the terms of the plan requirements. UnitedHealthcare (UHC) determines eligibility for disabled child status. A Disabled Dependent form must be completed and sent to UHC. Once a determination is made by UHC, UHC will contact the Caterpillar Health Enrollment Center and notify them whether the child is eligible to continue coverage as a disabled dependent. This process is required regardless of which plan option you're enrolled in (PPO or BCBS EPO).

How does the plan handle dependents who are living away from home?
The dependent will be enrolled in the same plan as the employee, regardless of their physical location.
